Jay's Journey...
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
– Mark Twain –

Swimming in the ocean with locals frantically pointing at sharks you didn’t see. A policeman commandeering a milk truck to chase you down through Mexico City for a traffic violation. Rickety chicken buses taken to see Incan ruins in the Andes. These are some of my parent’s travel stories that I grew up on. A book of stories I’ve always hoped to add too.
The pursuit of these stories, or perhaps my possible conception on a lonely Central American beach during my parents six-month honeymoon from the Canadian Arctic to Macchu Picchu, has left me with a condition known as Location Deficit Disorder (LDD). A condition best described by an anonymous LDD sufferer, ”Adventure may hurt you but monotony will kill you.” To date, I have avoided the latter outcome but managing this chronic condition occupies much of my free time and resources.
When I am not dealing with my LDD, I can be found in Winnipeg working as a paediatric dentist with the wonderful people and patients at Children’s Dental World, involved with the dynamic faith community of Riverwood Church Community, or spending time with the amazing friends and family that continue to influence and enrich my life.
I am a husband to my beautiful wife of almost 15 years and a father to three amazing children. Co-authors of the stories I write and my favourite people in the world.
